Understanding Infertility
Donor Embryos
Donor embryos are embryos that have been donated by other couples who have finished their family creation. The frozen embryos are then donated to other couples who may need them. These couples include untreatable infertility, single women, recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) or genetic issues.
Embryos must meet FDA guidelines for donor screening and testing. Informed consent and counseling are recommended for recipients as the choice to use donor embryos is difficult and emotional.[1] However, compared to traditional in vitro fertilization (IVF), donor embryos cost less and are less taxing on the body.[2]
Talk to your doctor to see if embryo adoption may be right for you.
