Understanding Infertility
Donor Eggs (DE)
Donor eggs (DE) are eggs than have been donated from reproductive age women. They can be used by women who have egg issues or same-sex couples.
Donor eggs are vigorously screened and tested with all the same tests as infertility testing. The donor must be lass than 35 years old, in the range of 21-35 (so consent is understood.)[1] The egg donor then undergoes the same hormones and shots used in in vitro fertilization (IVF) in order to cultivate around 6-10 eggs. These eggs are then frozen for sale and use via egg donation banks. Private egg donors via friends and family can also be used.
If using donor eggs, the man’s sperm will then be placed into the egg via intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and grown in a lab for transfer. The most important part of using donor sperm is to be emotionally prepared for the undertaking. It is a difficult, expensive decision and can be emotionally taxing.
Talk to your doctor and see if donor eggs are right for your case.Egg donor banks exist all over the world, but areas in Europe such as the Czech Republic may have the cheapest pricing.
